James (Jim) Neubauer
ChairmanRead James (Jim)'s Bio
In 1989, Mr. Neubauer founded Vehicle Acceptance Corporation. Over the past 30 years, he has expertly maneuvered the company through its time as a bulk purchaser of Buy-Here-Pay-Here receivables in the 1990s to its expansion into a receivables factoring program in the 2000s. In 2007, he appointed his son, Jonathan, President and CEO, and helped transition the company from consumer auto financing to floorplan financing. Today, VAC is a recognized leader in the industry, with 13 offices across the country. Mr. Neubauer continues to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company.
When not at work, Mr. Neubauer enjoys riding his motorcycles and spending quality time with his wife of 43 years and his many grandchildren. Honesty, Professionalism, Dedication, Fairness, Family and Faith are his fundamental driving principles.
CEORead Jonathan's Bio
Jonathan began his career as a Structural Engineer, earning his Bachelor’s of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from Texas A&M University. As a Senior Engineer, he spent years designing and monitoring the construction of complex and high profile high-rise structures with teams across the country. A big part of his job as an engineer was to write custom software that could divide and manage the design of these massive structures while exceeding the fundamental capacity of the underlying design software.
In 2007, he left engineering to work with his Dad to manage and grow VAC. Years were spent in every aspect of the business, from accounting and accounts payable, to human resources, and notably- information technology. Several years were spent building our nationwide network and Voice-Over-IP infrastructure, along with redeveloping processes and procedures at every turn.
In 2013, VAC presented him with his biggest challenge yet: re-engineering his family’s business from a consumer auto finance group into a floorplan financing company. As President and CEO, he applied his engineering talents to VAC, applying best practices, efficient processes and modern technology to build a well-oiled machine for inventory financing. He mapped out how to build, operate, maintain, and improve the new business while running the old business —all at the same time. After 11 years at the helm, the company’s transformation into a modern, scalable and nationwide inventory finance company is complete and sales are booming.
In February 2019, Jonathan was recognized by the Dallas Business Journal as one of Dallas’s 40 under 40. He is active in several peer leadership groups including Vistage and YPO.
When Jonathan is not busy building things at work, he can be found in his workshop or down at the lake, building things for his wife and three children. His two Labrador rescues (that don’t like to swim) keep him busy too. He is interested in restoring cars and trucks, woodworking, the outdoors, boating, Scouting with his children, reading, travel, fancy spreadsheets and SQL databases.
